ABOUT POTENTIAL BUDDHA

20 Oct 2010 by Geertje, No Comments »

Lovely to see that you made your way to my blog. My name is Geertje, and I’ve been sharing what inspires me under the name of Potential Buddha since 2005. It’s the idea that we are all Potential Buddha’s that ignited and still fuels my creative fire. On PotentialBuddha.com you will find my blog and news about my books and publications, events, workshops and all the ways  I’d like to make awareness more fashionable.

You can read more about my personal story here. Out of it came Potential Buddha; basically a crazy, heartfelt attempt to add something of value to this world. And make a living out of that (don’t try this at home.) I did all kinds of things with Potential Buddha:  from grass-root yoga clubbing events, sponsored yoga lifestyle events, to creating an organic clothing line (called ‘Awareness Wear’); up to an interactive blogosphere and many, many more wonderful and completely impossible ideas that never saw the light (“how about a Potential Buddha emergency kit ‘for every hole in your soul?” “Potential Buddha Network?”)

Being an entrepreneur drove me a little crazy, to be honest. With little plans but big dreams, I stopped hiding behind ‘stuff’ and stumbled into the Potential Buddha light fully, offering myself and my thoughts as my main services. However scary that was, it somehow worked. In 2009, I receiving my first book publishing deal – a dream come true. Soon after, I got to write another , allowing me to combine and share my great loves: dharma, yoga and writing. I’m still bubbling with many more book ideas and concepts, I fantasize about future collaborations (and sometimes realize them.) My World Domination Plans include saving the oceans and convincing MacDonalds to go veganfabulous.

(Which might be a good time to mention that I’m always open for your ideas, not only if you are the marketing manager at McDonalds)

Although many things have changed over the years of running Potential Buddha -and will continue to change- one thing remained the same. My work still originates from a continual amazement with life: its deep mysteries that puzzle, hurt, touch and fill me with existential doubts and boundless joy -often all at the same time. My sincere wish is that it, in some equally mysterious way, proves to be of benefit.
